Lexus has made its off-road icon undergo a total transformation in terms of tech, drivetrains, and design. Having earned a well-deserved reputation for performance on trails, rugged reliability, and luxurious appointments, the car giant had become slightly stagnant over the last few years. However, with the 2024 models, the new GX brings a breath of fresh air into the Lexus lineup.
Styling and Trim Patterns
Much more squared off and bulky now, the Lexus has emerged to take the emphasis away from the trademark spindle grille. This enabled it to don some resemblance to the off-road SUVs like the Mitsubishi Montero, FJ60 Land Cruiser, etc. The 2024 GX offers six trim levels with varying stages of comfort, off-road capability, and performance. These levels include Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+.
The New GX Engine Mechanism
The 2024 GX presents a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission, working with 349 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The new model comes with standard four-wheel drive and a Torsen locking limited-slip center differential. The electronic transfer has been updated for quicker shifts between the four-high and four-low. The towing tops at 8,000 pounds, while the lower ranges fall around 6,990 in the Luxury models.
The 2024 GX’s Infotainment and Safety Technology
The new 7-seater Lexus GX models from 2024 bring with them features like illuminated charging ports, a Black NuLuxe scheme lined with the Olive Ultrasuede material. This leaves the cabin with a luxurious look and feel, keeping it ready for forest explorations. In the Overtrail+ models, the seat designs provide massaging capabilities, and supportive bolstering with an extending cushion in the driver’s seat. Further, every Lexus GX makes and model from 2024 has a 14-inch touchscreen with Android Auto capability and wireless Apple CarPlay, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Further, all these models are equipped with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which also provides additional active driving alerts.
