Driving while intoxicated is a serious problem the world over. It is estimated that roughly 29 people die every single day in the US alone from DUI related incidents. Most of us will realize that this number is simply too high – if any number could be accepted at all for that matter.
But the truth is that while most people obey the law, a few don’t, and those people could be responsible for some pretty heinous accidents over time. In other cases, some people just can’t handle their liquor as well and after only two glasses of wine end up causing an accident – it really differs from person to person.
The solution to these incidents might not be as complicated as you think though. While totally abstaining from drinking might seem like a drastic option, could you imagine not even realizing that you’re drinking a non-alcoholic beverage? Well, that’s what company Arkay hopes to achieve with their unique range of non-alcoholic liquors and they might wind up saving your life one day.
The company, originally started in France in 2011, made it their mission to reduce alcohol-related incidents on the road by utilizing a molecule known as W.A.R.M. in their liquors as a replacement for alcohol.
These molecules are related to capsaicin and are almost identical to alcohol molecules – except that they don’t require the fermentation period that alcohol needs. This means that they taste and even give the same kind of ‘kick’ as alcohol does, without causing you to get drunk (or avoid that hangover!).
The company has recently decided to branch out to the US and aim to help reduce the number of DUI accidents on the road by making non-alcoholic beverages and cocktails cool. As a brand, they offer everything from whiskeys, vodka, rum, gin, liqueurs, brandy, and piña coladas – all non-alcoholic of course and usually for around $40 a bottle. Now you can throw awesome cocktail parties and drink as much as you like without worrying about where you’re going to sleep tonight or causing an accident when you’re behind the wheel.
